<105> Finally I return: So here I am, finally back online and back in the
city. It feels like I've been back a lot longer then a week and a half, but I've
been having a good time so it's all good. Last week I had 3 classes technically, but
only 20 minutes of actual class. My first class on Wednesday was my Writing for
Media class. It's taught by a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer, making that the second reporter I've
encountered directly from this paper (the first being the reporter who wrote an article
about my other website last August). So the class should be mildly useful and he
only kept us about 20 minutes since it was the first day. So then my second class on
Wednesday was History of Design. I show up, the class is packed, but the teacher
never shows. The rule at my college is wait 15 minutes for the teacher and if they
don't show up you can leave without being absent. The rule comes into effect a lot
more often then you might think when it comes to certain teachers.... especially my
Freshman Writing teacher last year, ah but I never have to see him again so... Anyway, we
waited about 20 minutes to be nice, but then my day was done. That 20 minute wait
sure beat the 3 hour class I should have had. So then comes Thursday. My first
8:30am class of the semester. As soon as we get there we are told that our teacher
had a family emergency the night before and can't make her daily commute from New York (a
majority of our profs live in NYC and take the train in everyday). So aside from
finding out my teacher for this class is one I had hoped never to have again, the day was
still good because I didn't have to sit in class for 3 hours that morning collaborating
and being spontaneous... don't ask. I have Fridays off every week, which is welcomed
plus I had Monday off this week because of Labor Day. I had a nice 4-day weekend
after all of that almost class last week, so now today really feels like it's my first of
being back at school. Right now I'm on my lunch break in between my core studio
class for this semester called Interactive Studio. It covers interaction, that's a
given, plus things like HTML, Flash, Director (next semester), etc. It seems like
it's the most relevant class to my major thus far though and we're told it's the most
important. I'm sure I'll talk about this class much more later, but now my break is
coming to an end and I have about 15 minutes left, just in time to watch Garfield & Friends!!!
