<134> Breaking out: Woohoo, it's finally done with... my crit that is.
It went pretty well today. I think my prof really liked it and MOST of my class got
it, though I think some missed the point. It's alright though. There are a few
things I want to refine concerning my midterm, but overall not too bad. There is a
link to it on the main page currently, if you're interested. Otherwise I'll be
putting it up under my digital work section. I'm planning a big redesign of this
site to be coming soon (since when is it not coming soon??) but this time I really mean
it. I love how I just keep adding and adding to my list of things to do over
break. You and I both know all this shit isn't going to get done, but it's nice to
have goals isn't it?
In other not really related news, but important none the less, we have no heat in our apartment! It's been acting up for about two weeks now, but last night after another failed attempt to repair it it decided to kick out completely, thus no heat this morning when I woke up at 7:30 in the morning to get ready for class..... They are supposed to come out tomorrow to fix it, early in the morning, on my sleep in day... joy! I should wake up and study for my midterm tomorrow anyway. I swear today is the coldest day of the year and I can say very definitely that I'm ready for spring.... though I have been ready since the first day I couldn't call it warm out. I don't mind cool weather for winter, but fucking freezing is not my style. Perhaps I am destined to live in CA afterall....
Right now I should be finishing my Narrative project. It isn't due until Friday actually, but I'm turning it in for consideration in this multimedia competition that's going on in our department. We had to make a comic book and honestly mine really isn't all that wonderful... it's not as I had wanted to make it (my teacher advised me against trying to pull off my full idea in a week that my studio midterm was also due) so I am settling, but I figure since it is almost done anyway I might as well get it printed out tonight. I hate Kinko's by the way, they never get things right, ever. Have you EVER heard of someone getting something somewhat large scale printed at Kinko's successfully on the first try? No, of course you haven't because I am convinced it isn't possible. Going yesterday was just to get my little 11 X 17 storyboard printed out for class today... but tonight I need to get a 25 by 25 inch thing printed out and you just know they're gonna fuck it up. I don't even want to think about how much this is going to cost me considering printing and mounting the storyboard cost almost $20. Ick, remind me to become very good friends with owners of printing places in the future. Sheesh.
I'm fairly inspired today. In part because my crit went well, in part because I figured out essentially all of what I wanted to accomplish for the project, and also just partly due to the fact that I've spend this entire day staring at computer screens and critting everyone's projects in my class. Some people had some awesome stuff, my favorite being this piece. There was several really good ones from my class that I liked though. Anyway, my fingers are pretty numb right now, so I think I'm going to go find a way to be warmer. Next time I type here there better be heat in this house!!
