<223> Resume Review: I'm sitting here,
reviewing resumes for potienial people to take over (or aid in) my position here
at work. It's kind of a weird feeling actually. We made it official today that
I'll be switching to independent contractor status upon my return from Austria
next month. They made an ok offer, though not what I would have asked for,
but I can't expect too much with so much change and such going on right now. It
should end up being fairly equal to what I make now, with
a few exceptions,
but I'll work with what I have. It's better than no job at all to
come back to, that's
for sure!
So I'm finishing up my time here as a full time, official employee. My last day is on Monday, then I'll take my remaining 2 days of sick time and allow myself some time to prepare for my trip. I leave Thursday night for Austria and then the adventure begins! I still can't believe I'm going. It still seems like a very abstract concept, even though everything that is going on around me is so real. I'm doing what I can each day to knock off the items on my to-do list... most of which are items that really must get done before I go.
They are going to be "looking" for someone to aid in my position, but they are doubtful of finding anyone, especially during the time I am gone. Apparently it took them a long time to find me as a match - I guess I didn't realize I was such hot stuff! Ha ha. Well I guess photoshop/design plus database work plus reports plus marketing doesn't all come together in everyone, but of the resumes I've reviewed so far, not one has been anywhere close to someone that could do this job. I am hoping I'm not too picky given that this is ME we are trying to replace here, but I'm told not to worry. So I guess I won't for now. Like I said, it's good to have something to come back to, and I'll go with that for now.
